First things first: Which comes first, the bank account or the phone? What should I create first?

Guidelines for Activating Cell Phone in South Korea

Q. Is it absolutely necessary to get a phone activated?

If you're planning to stay in Korea for a while, having a mobile phone registered in your name, preferably with a Korean carrier, is almost essential. There's so much happening through apps, and Korea is quite enthusiastic about personal verification, so it's really necessary.

We'll recommend going for a discount phone then!

Since the procedures for setting up a phone through regular carriers can often be complicated, I recommend using what's called a 알뜰폰/discount phone/MVNO phone.
What are the advantages of a discount phone?
They're affordable, hassle-free to activate without the need for device changes.
you can cancel anytime and switch phones whenever you want.
The best part? You can activate it with just your foreigner registration card/passport without needing to open a bank account at a Korean bank. You just pay upfront and use it as you go.

Activity Scope : The D-10 visa category includes three types:

General Job Seeking (D-10-1): Suitable for professionals looking for employment in specialized fields (compatible with E-1 to E-7 visa categories) or those intending to participate in internships (training or probationary periods) at companies.

Technology Startup Preparation (D-10-2): For those preparing to start a tech company in Korea. This visa allows the holder to undergo startup training and meet various conditions such as incorporation and government recommendations to transition to a D-8-4 visa.
•
Advanced Technology Internship (D-10-3): Allows for internships in advanced technological fields with a maximum stay of one year.

Eligibility :

•
General Job Seeking (D-10-1): Applicants must hold at least a bachelor's degree, although those with a vocational college's degree from Korea are also eligible. Applicants should not have stayed in Korea on a D-10 visa for more than six months within the last year. Internship contracts are limited to 1-6 months with training allowances.
•
Technology Startup Preparation (D-10-2): Similar educational requirements as D-10-1. Applicants must also meet one of the following: holding or applying for patents, utility models, or design rights; possessing intellectual property rights from OECD countries; having participated in OASIS training within the last three years or currently attending; or being in Korea on a short-term visa for K-Startup Grand Challenge training.
